CLC RELEASE - CHATELAINE'S "DR. G" REVEALED BY THE INTERIM
October 9, 1998 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chatelaine's "Dr. G". revealed Article raises fears of abortions at London Catholic hospital
The Interim newspaper's October front page story lists many details indicating that the "Dr. G" in Chatelaine's September feature article lionizing a late-term abortionist is almost certainly Dr. Fraser Fellows of London, Ontario.
Dr. G reveals in the Chatelaine article that he is on staff at a Catholic hospital and that he clandestinely starts late-term abortions and completes earlier stage ones at that hospital. He also states that other hospital staff counsel and refer women for abortions.
The Interim reports that in the Chatelaine article, Dr. G. had "a half-dozen protesters chanting outside his house every day for several years". Jim Hughes, national president of Campaign Life Coalition, states that Dr. Fraser Fellows of London, Ontario is "the only Canadian abortionist to have been picketed at home for more than a week". Dr. Fellows is on staff at London's St. Joseph's Catholic hospital.
Pro-lifers have previously complained to the hospital and the London diocese about abortionist Fellows' presence on the hospital's staff. The new revelations in Chatelaine, if true, as they appear to be, are in serious violation of hospital policy and Catholic church teaching, and may lead to major scandal.
Campaign Life Coalition calls on both St. Joseph's hospital and the diocese of London to conduct a serious investigation of these matters and to immediately remove abortionist Fellows from the hospital staff.
If Fellows has been committing or starting abortions in the hospital it would seem that other staff members are co-operating with the procedure or turning a blind eye to it. Such co-operators should also be removed from the hospital because of their serious betrayal of the hospital's philosophy and purpose.
The Interim, produced in Toronto, is Canada's national pro-life, pro-family newspaper.

ALBERTA TO GIVE IN ON KYOTO TREATY?
CALGARY, Oct 9 (LSN) - Yesterday the Calgary Herald reported that Alberta Energy Minister Steve West is softening from his earlier outspoken criticism of the UN's radical environmentalist Kyoto agreement. "If I was trying to give a critical analysis, I wasn't giving my true feelings. I won't go down that path again because I honestly believe we could be doing a better job," said West at a meeting in Calgary on Tuesday.
Alberta's ratification of the Kyoto treaty would likely ensure the economically disastrous deal would be ratified since Alberta was the most vocal province in opposition to the UN's proposal. A second conference to discuss implementation of the Kyoto deal is scheduled for next month in Buenos Aires.

JUDGE HAPPY TO HAVE SAVED A LIFE
CLEVELAND, Oct 8 (LSN) - Judge Patricia Cleary of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court denied the request of a young woman convicted of fraud to go on probation rather than serve a jail term so that she could have an abortion.
The Associated Press reported yesterday that Yuriko Kawaguchi, 21, made the request claiming that she was five months' pregnant and had only 2 weeks left within which to legally abort her child.
Kawaguchi's lawyer and the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio filed a motion Thursday in U.S. District Court to have the ruling canceled and another judge appointed to the case claiming that Judge Cleary's decision was based on her pro-life convictions and not based on Kawaguchi's crimes. The Judge maintains her decision was based on the seriousness of the crime, but added "I'm not going to be a hypocrite. I think it worked out swell if that was her desire to abort her child that late."

FRENCH GOVERNMENT PUSHING GAY MARRIAGE
PARIS, Oct 9 (LSN) - A proposed French law to grant people of either sex who are living together almost all the legal and financial advantages due to normal married couples is being pushed in France. The ruling socialist government has forced round-the-clock debate on the "civil solidarity pact" beginning Friday in order to pass the bill before the 1999 budget comes up on Tuesday.
The legislation is derived from a campaign to legalize gay marriages and Reuters reports that it "would allow co-habitant couples to file joint tax returns, share common property rights and enjoy social welfare and inheritance advantages that families have." While it would not permit gay co-habitators to legally adopt children, pro-family groups warn that the law will make adoptions by gays a certain eventuality as in other countries.
